SWIRLS-App is the codename of a cloud-ready Com-SWIRLS currently under development. It is designed to facilitate quick and easy adoption of SWIRLS nowcasting system by National Meteorological and Hydrological Services (NMHSs). To enhance portability, SWIRLS-App will be distributed in Open Virtualization Format, which can be conveniently deployed either on premises or cloud platform with minimal installation and configuration (beyond those required for the operating system). SWIRLS-App provides a collection of nowcasting functions through documented application programming interfaces (APIs), which may allow better integration with other meteorological information systems in NMHSs. Users can simply operate or experiment with these functions using a web browser.
